Cures Bad Breath
Making a first impression is critical when you meet a new person both in your personal and professional life. Even if you are dressed properly, have the scene set just right for the first meeting, the one thing that will dampen the ambiance you are trying to create is accidental bad breath. The following are quick fixes which cures bad breath.
Bad breath or halitosis is caused by several factors. If it occurs frequently, you may want to work on eliminating the root cause which can be determined by lots of experimentation. The most common causes are digestive problems, bacteria in the mouth or sinus cavities, dental problems, or dehydration. It may also occur as a side effect if you are taking certain medications.
Dietary changes, and increased diligence in oral hygiene are all relatively easy places to make modifications. Consult your doctor if you are unable to cure the problem on your own. If it happens infrequently, you can take the following measures to rectify it for a short period of time. These remedies usually work for about a half hour and are just temporary fixes.
Swish something liquid in your mouth. Many people carry travel-size bottles of mouth wash to be used after meals to help freshen their breath. Water will also work if you can swish it around in your mouth or gargle in private. Stay away from liquids like alcohol, tea, coffee and soda because these tend to dry out your natural saliva. Saliva helps break down bacteria that causes some forms of bad breath.
Chewing the right things works wonders. Chew on a parsley or mint sprig. Fennel seeds will work as well. Make sure you don’t swallow these items. Eating a mint or sugar-free stick of gum can also help. It will freshen up your breath and keep saliva flowing in your mouth. Do not use gum with sugar as this contributes by creating more plaque and bacteria on the surfaces of your tongue and teeth.
Avoid certain foods. If possible, stay away from foods that are known to contribute to bad breath. Garlic, onions, some types of fish, and milk are common foods that leave an odor in the mouth. Try to stick with fruits as they provide a nicer smell and contribute to hydration. Another good food that fights bacteria is yogurt with an active culture additive. The enzymes in the yogurt help break down certain bacteria in the digestion which decreases bad breath.
Try to relax. If stress makes your mouth dry this will only exacerbate the issue. Keep a glass of water nearby and drink frequently to keep hydrated. Try to reduce any tension in your body by stretching unobtrusively and meditating in your mind to relieve stress.
By taking a moment, to drink and chew the right foods, and by relaxing your body, you can smile with confidence by using these quick fixes which cures bad breath.
